ORIGIN OF CAMPANELLE
We chose to call this pasta “bells” because the name is so soft and delicate, though it is one of several possible names for this shape. It could also be called “giglio undulato” which roughly means “undulating lily”, a reference to the shape and ruffled edges. Giglio is also an Isle off of the Tuscany coast. Tuscany and lilies have a long history together, making this shape full of history and tradition.
Campanelle is one of the shapes of pasta that is made possible by looking at nature for inspiration and the ability of creative minds to reimagine natural beauty in the form of food.
